Goals and Areas of Responsibility
As the University’s central institution for early career researchers, we offer doctoral researchers and postdocs a wide range of support . The support we provide is intended to complement the offerings available in the faculties. We are committed to ensuring uniform standards and quality assurance for doctoral studies at Leipzig University. We offer workshops and seminars for interdisciplinary career development in a variety of skill areas and in this way support the career paths of both our doctoral researchers and postdocs. Through our Graduate Centres and the Leibniz Programme, we promote Leipzig University’s strategic goals of internationalisation and interdisciplinarity.
The Vice-Rector for Excellence Development heads the Research Academy Leipzig and is supported by an administrative team and a board of directors. Our three Graduate Centres are home to all of the structured doctoral programmes offered at the University. The workshop programme and Leibniz Programme focus on interdisciplinary career development, international networking, and the systematic career advancement of doctoral researchers and postdocs. The Doctoral Representatives for the Research Academy Leipzig represent the doctoral researchers in our structured doctoral programmes.
